A iconic French Riviera property renowned for its glamour and elegance, Le Provençal has a storied legacy. The former hotel once welcomed an extraordinary roster of international luminaries, including Pablo Picasso, Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe, and Coco Chanel. Today, this historic address has been transformed into an exclusive collection of 35 unique residences that honor its illustrious heritage while offering the highest standards of contemporary luxury living.

the challenge

The goal was to revive Le Provençal as an iconic landmark of the French Riviera and transform it into the region’s most prestigious private residential address. Each residence was crafted with an independent design, ensuring no two apartments were alike, and that approach extended to equipping each home with a personalized smart home automation system.

the solution

Le Provençal turned to Crestron Service Provider (CSP), DOMOTIC, for their extensive expertise in luxury residential developments, and proven ability to deliver reliable technology solutions. Each unit and the shared amenities needed to rely on a platform that could scale across the property and grow with the needs of the residents over time. A custom Crestron control system was chosen to enable an intuitive smart living experience where technology remains both invisible and ever-present.

the technology

The 35 residences at Le Provençal range in size from approximately 1,000 square feet to more than 10,000, categorized into 10 Bronze, 13 Silver, nine Gold, and three Platinum tier residences. Each apartment is equipped with a fully bespoke Crestron control system, and that experience extends to the shared amenity spaces such as the spa, gym, playroom, cinema, and concierge areas, which are also seamlessly integrated for entertainment and environmental controls. Regardless of tier, every residence features Crestron lighting, HVAC, and shade control, along with comprehensive, pre-cabling to support future enhancements, ensuring long-term scalability and adaptability within the Crestron ecosystem.

Bronze and Silver tier residences provide lighting, climate, and shading control through Crestron wall-mounted touch screens, with pre-wiring in place for upgrades. Gold and Platinum residences further elevate the automation enhancements with Crestron motorized curtain tracks and integrated loudspeakers, and distributed audio systems. These were all pre-configured to accommodate additional Crestron technologies such as DM NAX® Audio-over-IP technology and DM NVX® AV-over-IP technology. This forward-thinking infrastructure enables homeowners to expand their systems over time with additional audio zones, advanced home cinema solutions, and other Crestron controlled technologies, all without the need to replace the underlying platform.

Crestron touch screens are a standard feature throughout the property, providing residents and management with an intuitive, elegant, and consistent approach from the very first interaction. Across the common areas, a centralized Crestron control system empowers staff to operate and manage all spaces 24/7, with comprehensive control and monitoring of lighting, shading, audio, and climate across every zone. The Crestron DM NAX audio distribution system plays a key role in shaping the atmosphere throughout the shared spaces, allowing tailored playlists for different areas and automated scheduling based on the time of day or specific activities. The fully integrated home cinema, also controlled through Crestron, delivers a premium entertainment experience with simple operation through the touch screens and remote controls.

Through customizable scenes, including lighting presets that can be modified directly by residents, the environment adapts to individual lifestyles rather than requiring users to adapt to the technology. The property operators benefit from streamlined control through Crestron interfaces that activate, shut down, or adjust lighting, shading, and audio across all zones from a single touch screen. For residents, the system enhances daily life while remaining virtually invisible in the background, providing effortless control of lighting, climate comfort, automated shading, and audiovisual entertainment.
