Regional Court of Lübeck

introduction

During a complete renovation of the facility, the regional court of the city of Lübeck, Germany embarked on a digitization process encompassing nearly 50 rooms, aimed to meet the high standards set by the facility management team, Gebäudemanagement Schleswig-Holstein (GMSH), to streamline operations and modernize the experience.

the challenge

As part of this initiative, the Regional Court of Lübeck intended to fully digitalize its processing and documentation strategies by including e-File in its process. Their team was seeking a technology foundation that could support their new processes while also integrating with external media sources, enable lectures, and capture legally compliant recordings while supporting transmission to other rooms.

the solution

The GMSH selected AV integrator Studio Hamburg MCI to help set a standard and design a media control system that would vit the needs of the facility. The Crestron DM NVX® AV-over-IP platform was chosen as it could handle the complex infrastructure on a dedicated network and provide a redundant backbone that would support the activities of the courthouse.

the technology

Courthouse processes and infrastructure require efficiency and legal compliance. Digitally recording and storing audio and video files would be an important part of the court process. The DM NVX platform provided advanced security features and a reliable backbone that would ensure sensitive content remained private and protected. The Crestron system’s ease of use was essential since technical defects can lead to interruption of court proceedings and in some cases, even the termination of a court case. The extensive system helps to support the modernization of legal processes.

Crestron DM NVX technology provides high-quality video transmission on a network basis and supports 4K60 4:4:4 streaming quality. The brilliant and seamless transmission of content was essential for visual presentations and clarity of communications during court proceedings. Trials and other courthouse activities are now supported with razor-sharp images without any loss of compression, which is essentially critical to accurately view documents, evidence, or other visual aids. The system also provides the ability to switch between different media sources without delay, to route content as required with added customization for display and sound reproduction.

Studio Hamburg MCI was able to leverage Crestron’s wide range of products and compatibility with various media formats to support a seamless integration into the existing IT infrastructure. Over 200 DM NVX technology units were installed, making the solutions suitable for a wide range of use cases. Additional units can be added over time to support further expansion and growth. The platform supports the latest standards and technologies, with continual firmware updates available which means the system will only improve with time.

"DM NVX delivered exactly what was needed for this specialized application. Performance, quality, flexibility, and user-experience were all able to be tailored to meet the preferences of the court."

the results

The city of Lübeck has successfully modernized its court processes with the DM NVX platform and is able to transmit 4K video in real-time for a vastly improved courtroom experience. The simplicity of the system allows all users, even those without in-depth technical knowledge, to easily control it, which has led to improved workflows, time-saving processes, and increased efficiency and user satisfaction.
