The Crestron Pyng® app quickly and easily configures and controls whole-home audio systems, lighting, shades, thermostats, door locks, and security systems. Use this free home automation app to set up these devices with custom presets on an Apple® iPad® and control them from iPad, iPhone®, and iPod touch® devices. A Crestron touch screen[1] that is connected to the Pyng system automatically adds the entire system, providing instant connectivity and control. Use the app to listen to music in any room or share audio sources throughout rooms for party mode and trigger environmental scenes within the Pyng network. Let the Pyng app turn up or down the lights, set the thermostat to an ideal temperature, and tune in the audio system to your favorite streaming service, all at the touch of a button. Pyng is designed to flawlessly integrate with every Crestron® system. Add a Pyng control hub to every 3-Series® control system and set up the audio, lights, shades, thermostats, and locks in minutes. Then program the rest of the devices in the system for a truly custom experience that can be easily adjusted by the homeowner.
Simple Setup
When using the Crestron Pyng app on an iPad, an integrator can simply walk from room to room in a home and pair each wireless accessory—such as Crestron audio systems, switches, dimmers, keypads, remote controls, and shades—with the dedicated Pyng control hub through infiNET EX® communications. The Pyng app can support up to 200 infiNET EX accessories through the use of the dedicated hub (model PYNG-HUB) and four external gateways. After setup, the PYNG-HUB acts as the control center for the Pyng network, receiving and routing commands from the iPad or other control accessories.
Audio streaming sources,[2] amplifiers,[3] and touch screens[1] are wired devices that automatically display as available in the app when they are connected to the network. Simply assign an individuals’ name to a source and select the rooms in which the source should be accessed for an experience customized to each member of the household. Add speakers to up to 72 independent rooms and even bridge speakers for rooms that need more power. Add up to 20 touch screens to a single system. Once connected, the Pyng user interface will populate with the connected devices instantly. Use quick onscreen setup menus to set default rooms and available rooms. Since the cloud provides backup for settings stored in the PYNG-HUB, nothing is ever lost.
Streaming Music
Crestron Pyng pairs with a diverse selection of devices to bring a variety of music streaming services to any room in a home.[2] The CEN-NSP-1 Network Stream Player integrates with Apple iTunes® and Internet radio to stream your personally purchased music, playlists, and favorite Internet radio station. Alternatively, listen to AM/FM radio, satellite radio, and Internet radio with the CEN-TRACK TunerRack Modular Multi-Tuner. Finally, as the result of a groundbreaking collaboration, Pyng natively integrates with Autonomic® Mirage Music Players to stream Pandora®, Rhapsody®, Sirius XM®, Spotify®, Slacker Radio, Deezer®, TuneIn, and more to any or every speaker in the system. Audiophiles can rejoice in the variety of streaming music services and ease with which whole-home audio is set up with Crestron Pyng.

Five Easy Steps
The Crestron Pyng app’s straightforward user interface sports sleek graphics and guides the user through the easy, five-step setup process. These steps include effortlessly choosing and naming rooms, adding accessories, creating scenes, and scheduling events. The user interface reflects the state of the system automatically, and separate user modes for the integrator and the homeowner ensure appropriate access throughout the app. After the Pyng network is set up, homeowners can perform basic configuration functions such as creating scenes and scheduling events without the help of an integrator.
Crestron Pyng is available as a free download through the iTunes App Store®. Open the app on an iPad and then configure the Pyng network by following these simple steps:
- Choose Rooms
Choosing the rooms in a home is the first step to setting up a Pyng network. This is done by either selecting a room name from the pre-populated list of common room names or by typing a custom name into the app and saving it.
- Pair Accessories
Using simple tap and hold actions, the integrator can quickly pair wireless accessories to the PYNG-HUB directly from the app. Once paired, the accessories can be named for easy identification (for example, “hallway downlights”) and then assigned to a room. Wired devices are discovered automatically by the app and then must be paired with specific rooms to enable access. Add uncontrolled sources to send audio from a PC or cable box to any or every room in the house.
- Set Scenes
Crestron’s Pyng app comes with smart scenes for the whole home, including ALL ON and ALL OFF lighting commands and ALL RAISE and ALL LOWER shade group commands. In addition, the app makes it easy to create new scenes by presenting the integrator with a scrollable list of all of the rooms in a home. From this list, integrators can select a particular room, edit the scene settings, and then save the scene for immediate use.
- Set Up Keypads
The Pyng app offers an extremely high level of integration with Crestron keypads. After a keypad is paired, the app prompts the integrator to choose the color and identify the button layout of the keypad. The app presents an image of the keypad as the integrator presses each button, which ensures that buttons are properly identified and accurately used by the app. Next, the integrator assigns button functionality and labels. Custom button cap engravings can be ordered from within the app. The Pyng app supports wireless keypads, such as the INET-CBDEX, the CLWI-KPLEX, and wireless Cameo® switches and dimmers.
- Schedule Events
The built-in scheduler triggers events based on either a predetermined time of day or at sunrise or sunset. Shades can be set to close at midday to keep out the heat. Lights can turn on when the sun sets. Thermostats can self-adjust to certain preset temperatures based on the time of day. Creating new scheduled events is as simple as adding the new event, selecting the actions associated with it, and then choosing the time the event will occur.
Dedicated Hub
The PYNG-HUB receives and routes commands from the Pyng app or other control accessories. It has connections for a dedicated power supply and Ethernet with PoE. In addition to cloud backup, settings are stored in the hub.
The PYNG-HUB supports 50 infiNET EX accessories. Up to four external gateways can be added, each of which supports 50 accessories, for a total of 200 infiNET EX accessories that work together on a Pyng network.
Customized User Interface
The Pyng app presents a custom user interface by constantly refreshing itself as the home is set up, saving time and instantly providing the integrator and homeowner with a tailored platform for complete home control. The user interface displays and directly controls all of the preset scenes, a list of rooms, and all of the connected accessories throughout the home.
