The Internet of Things, which is enhancing our home lives through interconnectivity, is moving ahead briskly. “As technology continues to accelerate, with smart phones, smart toilets, smart refrigerators, smart lights, smart thermostats, so, too, does the demand for energy,” said Nikal Conti, one of three PHX Architecture principals in Scottsdale. August, for example, was one of the hottest ever in the Valley, and the summerlike weather didn’t end until almost a month after fall began. “Designs in the future will need to reduce power consumption through the use of continually improving glass, insulation, coatings and materials,” she said.
