Crestron Brings Microsoft® Lync® From the Desktop to the Conference Room

Crestron Announces New Lync Room System (LRS) Options and Complete Room Control from a Single Touch Screen

Crestron’s powerful group collaboration solution, developed in partnership with Microsoft, will be on display in a live executive conference room in the Crestron booth (#1039) at Enterprise Connect on March 17 – 19, 2014. Based on Microsoft Lync 2013, the popular server-based application for communication between individuals, Crestron RL™ extends that experience to the conference room. It enables groups to communicate and collaborate in real-time, regardless of physical location, using the same Microsoft Lync 2013 infrastructure. Crestron RL combines the intuitive room control solutions of Crestron with the full collaboration features of Lync.

Crestron RL brings video, voice, interactive content sharing, presence, and chat from the desktop to the meeting space. Now everything that can be done on a laptop or tablet can be done in the meeting room. By linking RL to all systems in the room, users can control the entire space from the same touch screen, even the lights and shades.

        Ultimate system flexibility & options
Crestron RL can be purchased as a complete system package or as standalone components that can be paired with Crestron tested and approved accessories. The dual display package is perfect for medium to large conference rooms, and includes two high-definition 65" touch screen displays. The single display package includes a 65" touch screen display and is ideally suited for small to medium sized conference rooms, executive offices, and huddle rooms. A “no display” package is also offered, allowing select third-party touch screen displays to be substituted for the standard 65" models. Each package includes an HD collaboration system codec, HD camera and microphone, soundbar, 10” tabletop touch display, wall mount kit(s), cables and accessories.

For ultimate flexibility, customers can tailor their Crestron RL system to fit their needs perfectly with optional accessories such as the mobile cart, table speaker and the new 360° HD camera, microphone, and speaker. The camera provides a panoramic view of the entire room, as well as an “active speaker” view that automatically tracks the flow of the conversation and focuses on the person currently speaking. The integrated microphones and speaker provide enhanced voice performance. A complete list of all the new optional displays, cameras, microphones, and more can be found on at Crestron RL.

Crestron RL connects over the corporate LAN, making implementation easy and hassle-free across existing infrastructure. If you already have a Lync server, no additional licenses, fees, or infrastructure expenses, such as MCUs or gateways, are needed.

        Comprehensive & scalable room solution
Only Crestron RL is designed to seamlessly integrate with all other Crestron enterprise control solutions and products to offer a complete room solution. Simply press the "RL" button to instantly access lighting, shades, thermostats, AV presentation, and much more -- all from the same touch screen. A scheduling touch screen can be placed outside the room so users can see current room availability and meeting details, and even book meetings on the fly.

“As a scalable, appliance grade, turnkey solution, Crestron RL can be implemented in practically every collaboration room across a global enterprise,” says Fred Bargetzi, Crestron Vice President of Technology. “Adding room control of other devices and systems, such as lights, shades and thermostats, is easy. Add Crestron Fusion software and remotely schedule meetings, manage resources, and collect data.”

        Key partners
Attendees will have numerous opportunities to see Crestron RL in action. The system will be in use at presentations around the conference, including at Crestron (booth # 1039), Microsoft, Polycom® and Whitlock, as well as other locations.
