Crestron DigitalMedia™ streaming cards now available

Crestron DigitalMedia™ streaming cards now available

Transmit content around the building, the campus or the world

Crestron announced today the release of its DMCO 7-Series output cards, providing streaming H.264 video transmission capabilities from Crestron DigitalMedia™ card-based matrix switchers. DM® switchers can accept analog or digital input signals and transmit those signals over HDMI®, HDBaseT®, multimode fiber, single mode fiber and now streaming over the network via RTSP (Real-Time Streaming Protocol). Streaming video eliminates any distance limitations enabling signals to be sent around the building, around the campus, or around the world. DigitalMedia switchers now support a very high-bandwidth video stream - up to 25 mbps - and both unicast (one-to-one) and multicast (one-to-many) protocols.

"DM can now stream 1080p HD content directly to computers and Crestron touch screens," Fred Bargetzi, VP of Technology explains, "as well as to in-house servers or open-source media sites such as Kaltura® or Wowza®, to stream to any display or mobile device anywhere in the world."

The best gets better
Using the new DMCO 7-Series cards, Crestron DigitalMedia offers a totally integrated AV distribution solution that includes HD streaming. The 7-Series cards can combine two signals over the same stream to enable Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture display. Exclusive Crestron Instant Switching™ provides instantaneous, glitch-free signal switching between sources.

"Streaming is the future of AV and DM supports that technology today," says Bargetzi. "A DM network is not really complete without at least one streaming output. Our modular, card-based architecture makes it easy to add streaming to a DM system."

Crestron is the pioneer and standard-bearer for digital AV distribution. Leading organizations around the world rely on Crestron DigitalMedia for presentations and communication. Crestron continues to innovate and lead the industry by supporting streaming, 4K, and wireless capabilities on one reliable platform.
