Nestled within Park City, Utah, this private, wellness-focused community offers an exceptional mountain living experience. Velvære Residences are a 60-acre development features 115 thoughtfully planned residences, including cabins, homes, and expansive estate sites, all with coveted ski-in/ski-out access. Year-round recreation is abundant, with winter skiing complemented by summer activities such as hiking, biking, water sports, and fly fishing, creating a true all-season retreat.

the challenge

The Velvære developer desired to create a community of fully integrated smart homes to support health, wellness, and comfort. The technology solution needed to be both scalable and repeatable, with a streamlined design that simplifies installation. One of the main objectives of the project was to enable the concierge to oversee and control each residence remotely from a centralized interface, ensuring both convenience and peace of mind for homeowners.

the solution

RePure, a Crestron partner, was selected by Velvære Residences to provide air quality automation as a result of their best-in-class air and water quality monitoring solution which identifies, tracks, and removes harmful contaminants. RePure brought in Ultamation to provide custom Crestron programming, bridging the gap between both systems. Hunt Electric was chosen as the integrator to provide electrical and systems integration.

Crestron Home® OS serves as the technology foundation for the residences, delivering reliability and flexibility while seamlessly tying in the additional third-party wellness features required for this high-end smart living experience. Each home leverages the Crestron Home platform to control lighting, shades, and audiovisual systems. Crestron enables support for custom extensions which made it possible to bring in third-party platforms such as the RePure OS, which plays a central role in the community’s wellness mission. Through a custom driver, users can see real-time indoor air quality monitoring from RePure directly from the Crestron Home interface. This integration allows environmental data to be visualized and actively managed, giving residents meaningful insights into their surroundings while enabling automated adjustments that support healthier living conditions.

Crestron Home OS is also compatible with the concierge management software that enables centralized oversight of multiple units from a single interface, while still preserving each residents independent control. Real-time system visibility enables the management staff to identify potential issues or faults before residents notice. Reduced troubleshooting and service requests allow the teams to handle a higher volume of needs with fewer manual processes. This capability was essential in creating a seamless, service-driven experience, allowing concierge staff to proactively manage homes and respond efficiently to resident needs.

Crestron touch screens and the Crestron Home mobile app provide residents with clear, accessible control over key systems. Homeowners primarily use the platform to manage third-party air quality management platforms, lighting controls, motorized shading levels, and whole-home audio through DM NAX® Audio-over-IP technology. Each of these actions are available through a sleek and intuitive interface that complements the residences’ luxury aesthetic. Despite the sophisticated technology operating behind the scenes, the system prioritizes ease of use, ensuring that advanced features remain approachable and convenient for everyday living.

There are three different styles of residences in the community, all providing the homeowners or tenants with activities for every season and views of the mountain range all year round. The DM NAX audio system provides more opportunities for homeowners to enjoy the nature around them with extended audio controls to outdoor living spaces. This is especially used during movie nights for a surround sound feel when entertaining. Residents have the option to include Crestron DM NVX® AV-over-IP video distribution technology to enhance their entertainment features. Circadian rhythm lighting in some homes helps support natural sleep cycles, further reinforcing the project’s focus on wellness, and resulting in a technologically advanced living environment that feels both effortless and deeply personalized.
