The interior of the home blends modern minimalism with organic luxury through natural textures, high-end fixtures, and floor-to-ceiling windows that complement the property’s coastal location.

the challenge

The homeowners requested a switchless design, which meant eliminating visible switches and minimizing wall controls while still maintaining a fine-tuned level of control over the rooms. Coordinating fixture placement and developing effective concealment strategies helped this project strike a balance between maintaining the aesthetic vision and meeting the technical requirements.

Sarah Z Designs and Aventura Home Theater were brought on as collaborative partners to handle the interior design and AV integration for this project. The unique makeup of their team meant they knew how to approach this project from all perspectives. The team recognized the importance of thoughtfully planning the control elements from the beginning to maintain a minimalist aesthetic that would not sacrifice aesthetics for function. the technology

The home’s design emphasizes serene sophistication through a neutral palette accented by natural stone, warm wood floors, textured walls, and decorative ceiling enhancements. The lighting fixtures reinforce elegance while creating sculptural interest with metallic finishes like a geometric gold chandelier and a minimalist brass pendant. Discreet control from Crestron delivers seamless functionality over the lighting tones and ambiance without disrupting the home’s refined aesthetic.

Crestron control ties together lighting and shading through a curated selection of Crestron keypads and thermostats, or through the convenience of personal tablets. A thermostat is strategically placed in each room to remain out of sight, but to provide full climate control over an environment that gets a lot of natural sunlight. Every aspect of climate and lighting control has been customized, with automation options to best suit the homeowner’s lifestyle. For example, ‘away mode’ was implemented to automate shades, lighting, and temperature when the family is not in the residence.

This system also addressed a special request from the homeowners to ensure the system was compatible with their observances of the Sabbath. The system was carefully programmed to set specific lighting schedules so that the home remains functional while respecting the homeowner’s religious practices. With Crestron control, the lighting system throughout the home operates without manual interaction. The automations have been specified so that each bedroom is set in accordance with the schedule of that family member for a truly seamless experience.
