During the 2024 CEDIA® Expo trade show, John Yohanna, Crestron’s VP of residential sales, as well as a host of senior Crestron execs from engineering to marketing, met with Crestron’s dealer advisory council. The group — with dozens of members from all over the globe — meets at least quarterly, sometimes virtually. “Some of them sell Crestron almost exclusively, some sell Crestron and our competitors’ products, too,” says Yohanna.

At this gathering, Crestron folks discussed plans for a next-generation Crestron remote control for residential deployments and offered up some concepts. The reaction was mixed at first, but quickly turned positive when the Crestron team posed the question: “Well, what precisely do you need?”

“What they needed became the Crestron Cevo Mini remote,” says Yohanna.

The team at Crestron heard from dealers who wanted a device that could fit a wide variety of use cases: media rooms, guest bedrooms, repeatable MDU applications, single-room projects, luxury condos, marine deployments, and the like. Dealers wanted a product that could open new doors — one that was affordable, approachable, and perfect for bundled installs.
