Crestron at CEDIA Expo 2025: A Recap

Folks who visited the Crestron booth at the 2025 CEDIA® Expo trade show saw the physical embodiment of two core philosophies we’ve been focusing on over the last year. The first is a guiding principle that has informed our work for over 50 years: True Blue.

The True Blue concept was summed up by our EVP of Global Marketing, Brad Hintze, in the introduction to our most recent edition of Smarter Spaces magazine:

It’s a commitment to shared success, fueled by a commitment to excellence and a passion for the transformative power of technology to create incredible experiences driven by a holistic approach to a smart home ecosystem. We’re driven by innovation, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. We embrace new ideas, explore emerging technologies, and collaborate with you to create solutions that redefine what technology can do. That collaborative spirit also extends to our integrators, our partners in the industry, and the culture we’re nurturing inside Crestron.

Hintze hinted at the other core concept of what Crestron does in that paragraph. We’re focused on the three elements of our business that truly express what we make — and the experiences we deliver — in the realms of content, collaboration, and control.

Examples of all three could be found in the Crestron booth — and each one was an expression of True Blue.

Since Crestron has been inventing, developing, and refining control solutions since its inception, we’ll start with a few major releases that fit into that “bucket.”

The New Crestron Cameo® Keypad

Visitors to the booth got a hands-on demo of the new Crestron Cameo® keypad, which we recently wrote about on the Crestron blog:

The next-generation Cameo keypad represents a significant step forward — its predecessor was a great product, but as technology advances, the devices that control the smart home need updates, too. The new Cameo keypad delivers exceptional performance and great looks, with options ranging from simple rocker switches to fully customizable keypads, 138 potential button layouts, and a wide range of other features that make it perfect for any integration, whether it’s a new build or a retrofit.

“There was a growing demand for a premium quality keypad and dimmer line at an affordable price,” says John Yohanna, residential VP at Crestron. “And our company is uniquely suited for this: creating a lighting product at this price that doesn't sacrifice quality, longevity, reliability, or aesthetics.”

In addition to the new keypads, we rolled out new metal finishes for our luxurious Horizon® keypad line. See more here.

The Cevo Mini Remote

Crestron had been working on another control solution: One that fits in the palm of the homeowner’s hand. The Cevo Mini Remote began as a concept after the Crestron team met with dealers at last year’s CEDIA Expo. They wanted a device that could fit the bill for a wide variety of use cases: media rooms, guest bedrooms, repeatable MDU applications, single-room projects, luxury condos, marine deployments, and the like. Dealers wanted a product that could open new doors — one that was affordable, approachable, and perfect for bundled installs.

What those dealers wanted — and their clients, too — was a premium, intuitive control device designed for today’s media habits. It didn’t need to be big, but it had to echo the Crestron Home® OS experience: elegant, durable, reliable, remarkably intuitive, and customizable. And because it’s a handheld remote, it not only had to look luxurious, it had to feel that way, too.

Configure Pro

Our work on solutions for the Crestron Home OS hasn’t been only about user-facing improvements — we’ve been working on the backend, too, with the new Configure Pro platform. As we described on the blog:

Configure Pro is a next-generation configuration platform designed to streamline and simplify the setup of Crestron Home systems. Key features include:

  • The introduction of our most intuitive configuration interface.
  • No-programming system creation with a totally reimagined and streamlined workflow that improves how you build the home, add rooms, and search for devices within the project.
  • The leveraging of Crestron Home OS features like copy/paste, shortcuts, and window resizing, which allows multiple simultaneous user connections on a project, even to different processors.
  • Enhanced navigation with hyperlinks for easy flow within the app and to device web UIs, as well as universal text filters for quick searching in large projects.
  • Redesigned, clear layout for keypad configurations, including quick actions, engraving, and behavior, as well as handy checkmarks to indicate configuration status on buttons and in the project tree.
  • Simplified sequences with a new button mode and a visual Sequence Editor for creating and understanding complex logic, including delays and conditionals.
  • Enhanced installer features (such as keypad programming, conditional logic, and more).
  • Improved audio/video connection configuration with clear input/output labeling and hyperlinks for easy navigation and AV-over-IP experiences.

Maybe the best feature of Configure Pro, however, is how easy it is to use. In fact, we invited dealers to take the Configure Pro Speed Challenge. Dealers were invited to test the platform firsthand — no prior training required. The challenge demonstrated just how intuitive and fast the new interface is.

Content = Entertainment Everywhere

Of course, the evolution of the entertainment options that the Crestron Home OS can control and deliver is always news at CEDIA Expo. Improving the music experience was a big part of the latest update to the software, as we explained back in July:

The first thing you'll notice is the new "Music" tile on the home screen. This isn't just a button; it's a window into a home's audio. See album art for what's playing, or a clear visual cue when things are quiet. With multi-source playback, the artwork gracefully transitions between sources, keeping you visually connected to the music flowing throughout a home.

There are a lot more features in that update (and many more to come in Crestron Home OS 4.7), notes Michael Short, VP of marketing operations and residential. “As far as music in the home, we’ve had a massive focus on our new Apple Music integration, which makes accessing all that audio extremely intuitive,” he adds. “We’ve also introduced HouseCurve, a powerful tool that enables a dealer to tune a home’s speakers using an iPhone and audio settings directly through the DM NAX Audio-over-IP system.”  The amps, outdoor speakers, and DM NAX® Audio-over-IP Edge Devices that have been rolled out in the last several months were on display, too.

On the video side, Crestron’s DM NVX® 384 encoder/decoder with Multiview was ready for a look, which will be, among other applications, a huge help in integrating media rooms for sports junkies. From the blog:

Multiview allows the configuration of up to six sources in fixed layouts and the flexibility and scalability of 18 compositions. The DM NVX 384 decoder dynamically composes these sources into the preset layouts, which can be instantly recalled to suit the application’s needs. Having every content feed packaged in a single device simplifies the system while reducing failure points without adding any latency. The solution allows for easy, intuitive audio control and routing and offers custom text overlays and borders for content identification. While Multiview is a feature specific to the DM NVX 384, the primary stream can be decoded by any DM NVX 4K AV-over-IP receiver.

Collaboration: Our Partners

The “collaboration” leg of Crestron’s mission was on display at the booth, too. In fact, the display’s Collaboration Zone highlighted our integration with DoorBird, a high-end door station and intercom solution. Designed and manufactured in Germany, DoorBird offers bespoke door station solutions for homes and MDU settings. Crestron also showed off our expanded support for locks from Yale, Schlage, Level, and more.

There’s an exciting new collaboration in the world of lighting, too. Back to our blog:

Crestron has partnered with the lighting firm DMF to integrate its PhaseX® lighting control technology into the Crestron Home® OS. That’s great for integrators and their clients: PhaseX technology transmits DMX signals over existing power cables, eliminating the need for extensive rewiring in both new construction and retrofit projects.

“The booth was an excellent distillation of the Crestron mission in the real world,” says Short. “Whether that's content from your favorite streaming service or even your vinyl collection, collaboration with our industry partners that gives you access to a virtual universe of smart home advancements, or control of setup and deployment, of entertainment, lighting, climate, security, and more. And you can control it all with a tap on a touch screen, a phone, or one of our new keypads.”

“The booth highlights the power of our open ecosystem,” says Short, “and we can show you how it all ties together. We had a laptop available so dealers can see how easy it is to find third-party devices now in Configure Pro. You can search for Sony, search for Panasonic, anything you could need — it’s right there. It’s simpler than ever.”

“Ultimately, the booth illustrated all these elements working in harmony to make a space feel truly personalized, connected, and complete.”
