Course Overview/Syllabus

This three-day class teaches the design, programming and commissioning of the Crestron Lighting Control System. Design covers both wireless as well as centralized whole-house solutions. This course centers on D3 Pro, Crestron�s lighting control software. This class will teach the concept-to-completion process of configuration and programming of the lighting system and integration with other systems.


Day 1 Laying the foundation and infiNET EX design
  • Electricity basics / Lighting terminology
  • Control system overview and processor selection guidelines
  • infiNET EX Hardware overview
  • "Paper to programming" infiNET EX design and introductory programming exercise
  • Commissioning the system using D3PRO Lighting Control Software


Day 2 Centralized system design
  • Cresnet wiring review
  • Cresnet calculation exercise
  • Understanding network IDs
  • Centralized hardware overview
  • Enclosures, modules and load assignment exercise
  • The fundamentals of programming exercises


Day 3
  • Custom-tailored programming solution / advanced programming exercises
  • Integration with other control systems Multicast and Intersystem Communication
  • Touch screen interfaces within D3 Pro
  • Practice programming guided final exercise


Technical Knowledge Prerequisites:
  • Complete literacy and fluency in Windows® XP, 7 or 8
  • Run/Install programs and copy files via USB
  • Navigation through Windows directory tree structure
  • Understanding file extensions, i.e. .bmp, .pcx.


Software Requirements

All software listed below must be downloaded and installed prior to class.

We recommend using Crestron MasterInstaller for D3 Pro™ to install all the software listed below. We recommend running the MasterInstaller the day before you attend Class.

  • 2.0 GB RAM (4.0 GB recommended)
  • 1280x800 screen resolution
  • Windows® XP/Windows 7
  • Windows Internet Explorer 7 or later
  • Adobe® Flash® v10 or later
  • Ethernet Port
  • USB port
  • 1.2 GB available disk space
  • External Mouse
