Admission Requirements

Admission into this class requires:

  • Completion of CTI Configuration of Crestron Systems.
  • Completion of CTI Essentials of Crestron Programming.
  • Completion of CTI Intermediate Crestron Programming*.
  • 3 sample programs submitted by you and approved by Crestron.

IMPORTANT! Prior to Registering for this class, students must submit 3 programs that demonstrate proper implementation of the SIMPL™ Windows® symbols explained in Crestron's Intermediate Class. (To see a list of these symbols, click here.) Not all symbols need to be used but at least one program should include a SIMPL+ module written by the student. Your 3 sample programs must be submitted and approved before your Application for this class can be accepted. We will notify you of your program's approval within 5 business days from when they are submitted. Please email programs to training@crestron.com.

* We recommend that all attendees have been programming complete systems for at least 6 months after completing the Intermediate Programming Class before taking this class.

 

Course Overview/Syllabus

The Programming for Certification course will teach you our SIMPL+ language and advanced SIMPL programming. After this class you will be able to master just about any Crestron programming challenges you encounter.

When you complete the Programming for Certification class, and pass the exam, you will become a "Crestron Certified" programmer.

Students will receive a take home exam to complete and submit for final Crestron Certification.

Programming for Certification runs 3-days,

Class starts at 9:00am. The Crestron Technical Institute (CTI) opens at 8:45am. If you should arrive early, please wait in the lobby for proper escort to the training facility.

 

Day 1

Understanding the logic process

  • Analysis of processor's structure as it relates to programming advantages
  • Advanced analog string handling
  • Storing data to non-volatile memory
  • Using serial send, serial pacer, and serial I/O symbols

 

Day 2
  • Receiving and interpreting serial strings
  • Advanced SIMPL+ programming
  • How SIMPL+ relates to SIMPL Windows
  • Creating a SIMPL+ project
  • Overview of syntax

 

Day 3
  • Syntax details for SIMPL+
  • Using SIMPL+ for string handling
  • Arrays
  • File and structure functions
  • Using SIMPL+ to store data to Compact flash
  • Final exam and testing

 

Technical Knowledge Prerequisites
  • Complete literacy and fluency in Windows® 2000/XP
  • Run/Install programs via CD-ROM drive
  • Navigation through Windows Explorer
  • Understanding of directory tree structure
  • Understanding file extensions, i.e. .bmp, .pcx.
  • Understanding SIMPL Windows
  • Understanding VisionTools™ Pro-e

 

Software Requirements

All software listed below must be downloaded and installed prior to class.

Please make sure you download all of the software listed below even if you don't think your particular class will use it. Some of the software listed below runs in the background. (Links below will open in a new window)

We recommend using Crestron MasterInstaller to install all the software listed below. We recommend running the MasterInstaller the day before you attend Class.

  • 1.7 GHz processor (2.0 GHz recommended)
  • 2.0 GB RAM (4.0 GB recommended)
  • 1280x800 screen resolution
  • Windows® XP/Vista/Windows 7
  • Ethernet Port
  • CD-ROM drive or USB port
  • 1.2 GB available disk space
  • External Mouse
