Imagine using your Android phone, tablet or other device as a touch panel for your home entertainment system, or to control all the lights in your home. R2™ for Crestron systems puts a professional-looking Crestron touch panel user interface right on any Android device, enabling all kinds of customizable control capability, while utilizing the complete screen space on the Android device.

R2 talks directly to the control system without any third-party software or external servers. With R2, simply tap the screen to select movies, music and TV in any room or adjust volume, light levels and room temperature with just a touch. Using the home WiFi network locally or the powerful 3G networks remotely, total control is always at your fingertips.

Control multiple locations, such as a primary residence, vacation home and office, from a single, intuitive graphical interface that provides real-time status of room temperature, lighting levels, shade position, volume and digital media metadata including album, song and artist.

New locations are easily added by opening the "Connections" page on the Android device, and customized buttons, graphics and dynamic text can be added by your installer. Updates or changes to the control program are automatically sent to the Android device when R2 is launched.

With a large library of built-in graphics to aid in custom designs R2 puts a virtual Crestron touch panel in the palm of your hand for complete mobile control.

Crestron has partnered with id8 Group to bring this application to market. id8 Group is a product incubator founded by Blake Krikorian, the co-founder and inventor of the Emmy-award-winning Slingbox. After leaving Sling in 2009, Blake decided he wanted to design and build out a home automation and media control system for his home in California. After evaluating several control system platforms, Blake decided to build his system based on Crestron control processors and DigitalMedia™ distribution products. Wanting to augment Crestron support of third party OS devices, he decided to build an Android app that is fully compatible with his Crestron system and Crestron development tools like VT Pro-e®, SIMPL™ Windows and SystemBuilder™.
