e-Control
How Easy is it to Use?

Hardware

High Speed Data Communications are native to Crestron systems - that means that it's easy for you to get your Crestron system connected to the LAN without being a certified network expert as seen in these three easy steps:

  1. Plug a C2ENET Ethernet communications card into the Z-Bus Slot in a Crestron 2-Series control system
  2. Plug the Crestron 2-Series control system into the LAN
  3. Set the IP address in a single step using SIMPL Windows (Download SIMPL Windows from our web site - free of charge).

That's it - you are ready to load programs, run diagnostics, activate functions - all via IP communications of the LAN/Internet

Other control systems require that you add a separate box onto their low-speed network, configure the box, then load software onto a PC server! Next, you have to define the IP addresses of all their systems, then set up the additional server parameters required to make their software work. Finally, you need to purchase their software administration tools before you can do tasks as simple as downloading a program or touchpanel screen. Make the comparison - the advantage clearly goes to Crestron.

Software

e-Control Database Manager
Centralized database allows information to be shared via the LAN/Internet, with any number of 2-Series control systems. Share dynamic data like videoconference speed dial presets and more.

CNX Gateway e-Control® Enterprise Gateway and SDK
The CNX Gateway provides an IP link between Windowsbased PCs and Ethernet-enabled Crestron control systems for e-Control® applications requiring a separate server computer. The Gateway monitors and controls the number of connections that can be established to the control system and supports SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), the industry standard for protecting sensitive network communications.

Every Ethernet-equipped 2-Series control system includes a built-in gateway and Web server to support the hosting of e-Control Web pages without requiring a separate server computer. However, as an alternative for large campuses with numerous control systems, Crestron's exclusive e-Control Enterprise Gateway software allows IT administrators to manage and host all of their e-Control Web pages on a single centralized PC server.

The CNX Gateway supports HTML/Java based e-Control applications and ActiveX based e-Control 2 XPanel applications.

For software developers, Crestron includes an SDK (software development kit) as part of the CNX Gateway installation package. The SDK contains Java components and ActiveX controls, routines and documentation for creating custom Web and PC-based interfaces that can communicate with Crestron hardware.
