Crestron Introduces Integrated 2-Way iPod Interface
Replicates the iPod Experience from a Touchpanel
Crestron introduces the CEN-IDOC, the first 2-way iPod interface, truly replicating the iPod experience on any Crestron touchpanel. Integrating the iPod into home audio systems is one of the hottest trends in the industry. Until now, consumers were unable to manage their music libraries, view play lists, or select music by artist, CD or song when connected to a home audio distribution system. Using 2-way communication, the CEN-IDOC reproduces the iPod experience on Crestron touchpanels. Crestron provides a graphical interface that duplicates the iPod display, and, leveraging the larger screen of the touchpanel, offers an enhanced view. The expanded view displays multiple sortable fields such as artist name, song title and CD title on a single screen. Crestron's CEN-IDOC provides full iPod functionality allowing users to do everything that they can do from their iPod and more from a whole house audio system via a Crestron touchpanel.
CEN-IDOC features both RCA and CAT5 balanced audio outputs and Ethernet connectivity. No programming is required when the CEN-IDOC is connected to any Crestron Adagio Home Entertainment System. When linking an Apple iPod® to an Adagio system, only the LCD display on the Adagio front panel is needed for set-up (no PCs or touchpanels are required), press "Discover" and the Adagio will find all the iPods connected to it. Each iPod can then be named and assigned as a source in the system. One wire (supplied) carries the control and audio signals from the docking station to the CEN-IDOC.
The CEN-IDOC is compatible with all current iPod models including the latest iPod Nano. Connect the video out of any iPod to any Crestron video distribution system and photos may be viewed on any video display or on a Crestron touchpanel.
The interface itself is very discrete. The small box can sit on the floor under the couch or in cabinet; using the mounting ears the interface can be installed under a kitchen counter or under a desk in the home office. Cutting holes in the wall or hanging a box on the wall is not necessary.
The CEN-IDOC also connects to existing Crestron audio distribution systems such as the BIPAD8. For more information regarding the CEN-IDOC visit www.crestron.com or call 1-800-237-2041. For high-resolution photos go to http://www.crestron.com/cedianews.
