Crestron Debuts New CLWI Wireless Dimming and Control System

Crestron is offering delegates visiting ISE 2013 an exclusive opportunity to preview its new CLWI integrated in-wall wireless dimming and light switching control solutions. Ahead of its official launch on February 1, 2013, visitors to the Crestron Booth C24 can explore the benefits of Crestron wireless dimming and control, and see why CLWI offers the perfect entry-level product to attract new home and building automation business.

"We are very exciting to launch this incredibly versatile and powerful wireless lighting control solution at ISE," explains Simon Clarke, Crestron EMEA Marketing Manager. "The CLWI line is totally unique on the market in that it offers matching sockets and faceplates; operate as dimmers and also as full-function control keypads; combines with our comprehensive suite of other wireless products such as thermostats and sensors, and can be combined to form 3-way and 4-way configurations so there's no need for expensive multiways."

CLWI is specifically designed for the European market and is suitable for both new and retrofit installations. The range uses proven infiNET EX™ wireless mesh network technology to deliver reliable and cost-effective 2-way dimming. For even greater versatility, CLWI can serve as a wireless dimmer, yet also has the ability to turn into a full-functioning keypad - a feature only available from Crestron. In addition, the CLWI range provides seamless compatibility and full integration with Crestron products for controlling audio, video, HVAC, and security systems, as part of a whole home or building control solution.

As the retrofit market continues to grow, CLWI wireless lighting control products offer an ideal solution for integrators who want to introduce automated lighting control to their clients. Using existing wiring for power, it is not necessary to cut holes through walls and ceilings to run new control wiring. This virtually eliminates the inconvenience and cost associated with a fixed wired installation, without sacrificing control performance.

Passing command signals to every infiNET EX™ device within 150 foot range, Crestron proven infiNET EX mesh network technology enables long-range wireless control across any size home. Connecting a full range of infiNET EX devices ensures reliable, long-range control from anywhere in the dwelling - even in the most densely populated urban areas - and produces incredibly clean whole home installations. A shallow profile ensures hassle-free installation in European single gang boxes, allowing CLWI dimmers to be installed wherever desirable.

"The CLWI range matches other wiring devices, sockets, and faceplates to provide both ease of installation and décor benefits," said Clarke. "Because we wanted CLWI dimmers to match the interior design of a European house we focused our engineering efforts to accept the Niko range of plates. So, in addition to Crestron faceplates, we now offer a wider variety of styles to choose from to satisfy the most demanding home owners and designers." Its single-box form factor maximizes control capability in a small space while increasing the opportunity for Crestron control in every room.

CLWI supports dimming control of the same lighting load from more than one location without requiring a special remote dimmer. It is possible to connect any standard, maintained or momentary, switch to the "remote" terminal on the CLWI keypad for on/off control, while the momentary "push-button" switches provide full dim up/down and on/off control.

Engravable buttons can be swapped out in the field for project-by-project customisation. In addition, each CLWI is shipped with a full assortment of blank buttons for future use should the interior scheme be subject to change. For fast, reliable wiring connections, CLWI features screw-clamp connectors to reduce installation time.

Crestron Toolbox Software allows RF mesh network diagnostics to quickly and easily troubleshoot in the field. For example, the software displays the number of devices between the current device and the gateway, the quality of the connection between each device, and number of infiNET devices within range to ensure the fastest, most reliable system performance. No more 'hit and hope' until you get a signal. Crestron CLWI provides a comprehensive, powerful and flexible wireless lighting control solution that's perfect for retrofit projects.

The CLWI integrated in-wall wireless dimming and light switching control solutions will be available in Europe.
